Pytha Partners have been proud to be a part of the Prima Architectural Joinery story for over a decade. We recently spoke with Operations Manager Pat Mollica about their software journey, and we share his perspective here.
One thing Pat has learned during his long time in the trade is that CAD software is not a one-size-fits-all product. The company trialled and tested two other programs before landing with PYTHA 3D CAD. While these other software products were okay with joinery, the drafting team soon learned they lacked the capacity to understand complex situations. With the increasingly ‘out-of-the-box’ projects they were procuring, the intuitive and customisable nature of PYTHA 3D CAD turned out to be their ‘third-time-lucky’ best fit.
Today, the company holds eight keys and has a competent team of PYTHA technicians. Pat is a huge fan of Willy’s Training Manual, and this is his go-to for helping wood machinists and cabinetmakers transition from the factory floor to the drafting team. Pat says the product has a short learning curve for those with trade experience; their knowledge of production methods and processes translates seamlessly into the 3D-based principles of PYTHA.
The product proves its worth when communicating with architects, too. Prima generally receives 2D drawings for tendering; their team then irons out construction issues and produces 3D images for client approval. This process ensures all parties are on the same page before production kicks off, allowing a seamless and cost-efficient construction.
